Tennessee's “Liberty Restoration Act” if passed would grant motorcyclists over the age of 21 the right to choose to wear a helmet or not.
The Senate Bill 0548 would require motorcyclists to meet specific requirements:
- The operator must have at least $100,000 in liability insurance coverage;
- At least $200,000 in medical insurance coverage;
- Must complete a department of safety approved motorcycle safety education course AND
- Must have been legally riding a motorcycle for at least two years.
If a motorcyclist meets all of these requirements the rider will be granted a “helmet-free” sticker at the cost of $50.

When on the topic of helmet laws there is usually a clear line divided between those who feel riders should be required to wear a helmet and those who believe every motorcyclist should have a choice. Whether you're for or against the right to choose it's important to know the laws in your state.
