Bikers, these are the Worst Intersections In North Carolina!

Most people would assume that the worst intersections in North Carolina would probably be located in one of the big cities, such as Raleigh or Charlotte. But, according to a 2011 report from North Carolina’s Department of Transportation, three of the state’s five worst intersections were located in rural areas.

Why are these the most dangerous intersections in North Carolina?

The Intersections were not only judged by the number of accidents, but also by the severity of the accidents that occurred at each intersection.

According to NCDOT, the worst intersection by its standards was located in Fayetteville at the intersection of US-401 and SR-1415 in the Sandhills region. This intersection had a reported 189 accidents.

The intersection of I-40 and NC-24 was listed as the second most dangerous in North Carolina. This intersection is located in Duplin in the Cape Fear region, and it had a reported 108 accidents.

NCDOT listed the intersection of US-401 and SR-1408 as being the third most dangerous in North Carolina. This intersection is located in Hoke and had a reported 54 accidents.

The fourth most dangerous intersection was located in Cumberland and was listed as the one between NC-59 and SR-1003. There were a reported 137 accidents at this intersection, though they had a less severe rating than the ones that had occurred at the third most dangerous intersection.

NCDOT listed the intersection of SR-1007 and Owen in Fayetteville as the fifth most dangerous in the state. According to the report, this intersection had a reported 103 accidents.

So, North Carolina motorcyclists, take notice of these dangerous intersections that could cause motorcycle accidents.  We all know it’s the other drivers that need to keep an extra careful look out for motorcyclists so as to prevent North Carolina motorcycle wrecks, but the reality is bikers ultimately pay the price if anything happens

Remember, have fun, but always keep vigilant about your surroundings, conditions and what other drivers are doing on the road.
